In a devastating aviation disaster, an Air India passenger aircraft — Boeing Dreamliner 787 — crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The incident occurred around midday near the Meghaninagar area, sending shockwaves across the city.
The aircraft, carrying 242 passengers, was bound for London. Initial reports suggest that the aircraft struck a structure or boundary wall near the airport during takeoff, leading to a massive explosion and fire.
Massive Flames and Thick Smoke Seen from Afar
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud explosion followed by enormous flames engulfing the crash site. A thick plume of black smoke was visible from several kilometers away. Photos and videos from the scene show the aircraft completely shattered, with parts of the fuselage and wings scattered across the area.
