There was a time when India’s bowling attack was underestimated compared to other teams. However, Indian bowlers are now among the best in the world, with stars like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj making a mark. Now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to add a bowler who can bowl at speeds of around 155 km/h to the Indian team.
This bowler is Mayank Yadav. He played for the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024 and caught everyone’s attention with his speed. Unfortunately, he couldn’t play many matches due to an injury, but reports suggest that Mayank has now fully recovered and is being considered for the national team.

BCCI has included Mayank in a special camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He had come to the NCA for recovery after his injury. According to media reports, Mayank might be selected for the upcoming T20 series against Bangladesh, as well as for the Test series against New Zealand.
A source told The Times of India, “For the past month, Mayank has not complained of any pain. He is bowling at full capacity at the NCA. The selectors are excited to see how ready he is for international cricket. Considering the long Test season ahead, they are looking to try some new faces in the Bangladesh T20 series. Hardik Pandya hasn’t played competitive cricket for a few months, and Abhishek also needs quality practice.”
The source added, “Mayank has been bowling about 20 overs in three different spells with the white ball during the day. Based on what the selectors see at the NCA camp, they may choose him for the Bangladesh series. Ajay Jadeja is expected to attend the new NCA opening in Bengaluru.”
