Rise of Right-Wing Politics in the World and India’s Growing Influence Under Modi

Across the world, right-wing parties are winning elections one after another. In Germany, for the first time since World War II, the right-wing has gained power. In Italy, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is already in charge. In the U.S., Donald Trump has won elections before, and Meloni recently criticized left-wing politicians, saying that when Bill Clinton and Tony Blair created a global alliance, they were called “statesmen,” but when leaders like Trump, Meloni, or Modi do the same, it is labeled as a “threat to democracy.”

This global shift in politics has brought India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi into the spotlight. India is now seen as a key player on the global stage, with a growing influence in world politics.

Right-Wing Surge in Germany and Around the World

One major example of the right-wing wave is Germany. The opposition Conservative alliance – the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union (CSU) – received 28.5% of the votes, making it the largest party. The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) got 20% of the votes and secured the second position. Meanwhile, the ruling Social Democratic Party (SPD), led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, got only 16.5%—its worst performance since World War II.

The CDU’s success was expected, but the rise of AfD as the second-largest party was surprising. AfD is an extreme right-wing party, and its popularity signals a shift in Germany’s political landscape. A right-wing party is leading, while a far-right party is coming in second, pushing the ruling Social Democrats to third place. Similar trends are visible in other countries.

In France, Italy, and recently in the U.S., similar patterns have emerged. Right-wing leaders have gained popularity, but in some cases, left-wing parties have formed alliances to keep them out of power. Italian Prime Minister Meloni has pointed out that left-wing politicians often criticize right-wing parties unfairly. She argues that conservative leaders are elected democratically and are popular among the people.

Meloni also mentioned Modi in her speech, highlighting that he has consistently won elections and has become India’s Prime Minister for the third time.

Challenges for Left-Wing Politics

The fact that people are choosing right-wing leaders shows that democracy is working. Trump’s presidency is an example—he was elected by the people of the U.S. Similarly, across Asia and the Americas, right-wing politics is gaining strength. In Latin America, Argentina’s new president also follows right-wing, free-market policies.

Over the past 10-15 years, a shift has been occurring. People are increasingly trusting right-wing leaders to solve problems like economic challenges and immigration issues. Immigration is a major political topic in Europe, especially in Germany, France, and Italy. Trump also focused on economic and immigration policies during his campaigns.

After the fall of the Soviet Union and the rise of liberalism, leaders like Bill Clinton and Tony Blair promoted liberal policies globally. However, in the past decade, nationalist and conservative parties have gained power worldwide. Now, conservative leaders across countries are forming new alliances that go beyond religious or cultural lines. For example, Modi, Meloni, Trump, and Argentina’s President are all interacting on the international stage, forming a new global framework.

Meloni has been engaging with conservative groups in the U.S., and leaders like Modi have strong relations with Trump and Meloni. These relationships show the emergence of a new political alliance at the international level.

India’s Rising Global Status

Since Narendra Modi became India’s Prime Minister, three U.S. presidents have changed, and several European leaders have come and gone. But Modi has remained constant. His personal connections with global leaders, including Trump and Meloni, have strengthened India’s position.

India has already made strong agreements with the U.S., considering Trump’s economic policies. This shows that India has established itself as a powerful global player. Under Modi’s leadership, India’s influence on international politics is stronger than ever.
