Indian smartphone brand Lava International has officially launched the new Lava Shark 2 5G in India, targeting users looking for an affordable 5G smartphone with a large battery, clean software experience, and practical daily performance. The new device joins the company’s growing Shark lineup, which already includes the Lava Shark 4G and Shark 5G models launched earlier this year.
With aggressive competition in the sub-Rs 15,000 smartphone market from brands like Xiaomi, POCO, Realme, Motorola, Infinix, and Tecno, Lava appears to be focusing on users who prefer a simple, reliable smartphone experience instead of flashy marketing features.
Lava Shark 2 5G Price in India and Availability
The Lava Shark 2 5G has been launched in a single 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant priced at Rs 11,999. The smartphone will be available in Sonar Gold and Arya Blue colour options.
Sales for the device will begin from June 10 through offline retail stores across India.
Lava is also continuing its “Free Service @ Home” support programme with the Shark 2 5G. This could become a useful advantage for buyers in smaller cities and towns where after-sales service quality often plays a major role in long-term user experience.
Lava Shark 2 5G Specifications
The smartphone is powered by the Unisoc T8200 processor built on a 6nm architecture. According to Lava, the chipset scores over 500,000 points on AnTuTu v11 benchmark tests, which should deliver stable performance for regular day-to-day tasks like social media browsing, video streaming, multitasking, navigation, and casual gaming.
The phone comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Users also get support for up to 4GB virtual RAM expansion and expandable storage up to 1TB using a microSD card.
On the front, the Lava Shark 2 5G features a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. While the resolution remains HD+, the higher refresh rate helps provide smoother scrolling and animations during everyday usage.
Massive 6000mAh Battery
Battery life is one of the biggest highlights of the device. Lava has packed a large 6000mAh battery inside the Shark 2 5G along with support for 18W charging.
However, the company includes only a 10W charger inside the retail box, which means charging speeds may feel slower compared to some competing smartphones in this price segment.
Clean Android Experience Without Ads
One of the strongest selling points of the Lava Shark 2 5G is its software experience. The smartphone runs on clean Android 16 without advertisements, bloatware, or unnecessary pre-installed applications.
This is becoming increasingly important in the budget smartphone category where many devices often come loaded with promotional apps and unwanted notifications.
Camera and Other Features
For photography, the Lava Shark 2 5G offers a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing selfie camera. Additional features include:
- IP64 dust and water resistance
- Side-mounted fingerprint scanner
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- Expandable storage support up to 1TB
- 5G connectivity
Lava’s Focus Seems Practical This Time
Instead of heavily focusing on gaming branding or ultra-fast charging numbers, Lava appears to be positioning the Shark 2 5G as a practical everyday smartphone. The company is prioritising clean software, dependable battery life, durability, and after-sales support — areas that still matter greatly to many Indian smartphone buyers.
For users looking for a budget 5G phone with a clutter-free Android experience and strong battery backup, the Lava Shark 2 5G could become an interesting option in the under-Rs 15,000 segment.
