Uttar Pradesh minister Raghuraj Singh has made a controversial statement about Holi and hijab. He said that Muslim men should wear a hijab like women if they want to protect their caps and clothes from colors.
What Did Raghuraj Singh Say?
Speaking about Holi celebrations, Raghuraj Singh said:
🗣️ “If someone wants to protect themselves from colors, they should wear a plastic hijab like Muslim women. Men should also wear it to save their caps and clothes. Otherwise, they should stay at home.”
He also warned people who try to disrupt Holi celebrations. He said:
🗣️ “There are only three places for those who disturb Holi – jail, leaving the state, or going to Yamraj (death).”
Demand for a Temple in AMU
Raghuraj Singh also supported the demand for a temple inside Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). He said:
🗣️ “A temple should be built in AMU. These people should respect the majority community. I demand that a Ram temple be built there. If it happens, I will place the first brick myself. I am ready to sacrifice everything for the temple.”
Controversy Over Officer Anuj Chaudhary’s Statement
This year, Holi and the second Friday of Ramadan (Jumma) fall on the same day. Due to this, Sambhal CO Anuj Chaudhary made a statement that sparked controversy.
🗣️ Anuj Chaudhary said:
“Holi comes once a year, but Jumma happens 52 times. If someone has a problem with colors, they should stay at home.”
His statement led to a huge debate, but CM Yogi Adityanath supported him. Yogi said:
🗣️ “The officer is a wrestler, so he speaks like a wrestler.”
Other BJP Leaders Support the Statement
UP Minister Gulabo Devi also supported Anuj Chaudhary. She said:
🗣️ “All festivals should be celebrated peacefully. There should be no religious conflicts. Whether it is one festival or twelve, everyone should celebrate with harmony and unity.”
This controversy has led to mixed reactions from different communities, with some people supporting the statements and others criticizing them.
