Indian javelin sensation Neeraj Chopra has booked his place in the men’s javelin throw final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 after delivering a qualifying performance at Scotstoun Stadium on Thursday.
Chopra finished fifth overall in the qualification round, comfortably earning a place in the final. He will be joined by fellow Indian throwers Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh, who also progressed to the medal round after impressive performances.
The men’s javelin throw final is scheduled to take place on August 1 (IST), where the three Indian athletes will compete for podium finishes.
Neeraj is chasing his second Commonwealth Games javelin title. The Olympic champion won gold at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, but was unable to defend his crown at the Birmingham 2022 Games after being ruled out with an injury.
The javelin competition at the 2026 Commonwealth Games is being conducted in two stages. The qualification round determined the finalists, while the medals will be decided in the championship final on August 1.
With all three Indian athletes advancing, India will have a strong presence in the final as Neeraj Chopra looks to add another prestigious international medal to his growing collection.
