New Delhi, October 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with Indian athletes who represented the country at the recently concluded Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Thursday, October 15. The programme will recognise the efforts of the players, coaches and support staff who contributed to India’s campaign at the continental sporting event.
According to information released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the event is scheduled to begin at approximately 4:30 PM at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering during the programme.
India Secures Fourth Position at Asian Games
India finished fourth in the overall medal standings at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, collecting 85 medals across various sporting disciplines.
The country’s final tally included 21 gold medals, 27 silver medals and 37 bronze medals. This performance continued India’s run of finishing among the top five nations at the Asian Games for a second consecutive edition.
However, India’s overall medal count was lower than its historic achievement at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, where the contingent won a record 106 medals.
Despite the difference in the total medal tally, the latest campaign provided Indian athletes with another opportunity to compete against Asia’s leading sporting nations.

Members of the Indian contingent, coaches, support staff and officials of the Indian Olympic Association are expected to participate. Representatives from National Sports Federations and officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will also attend.
The programme will highlight the collective contribution of athletes and the wider sporting community to India’s performance at the Asian Games.
