PUBG Mobile Light

PUBG Mobile is preparing a new version aimed at players who have limited storage space or less capable smartphones. Called PUBG Mobile Light, the upcoming game is scheduled to arrive in 2026 while keeping the main battle royale experience of the original title.

Unlike the older PUBG Mobile Lite, the new version is not being positioned as a feature-reduced game. Instead, the developer is focusing on lowering the amount of storage and device resources required to run the game.

PUBG Mobile Light Will Use Less Storage

According to PUBG Mobile producer Rick Li, the Android edition of PUBG Mobile Light will occupy roughly 1GB, while the iOS version is expected to require around 2GB of storage.

Another notable feature will be the ability to control which game resources are downloaded. Players will reportedly be able to select the content they want to keep on their devices, allowing them to better manage available storage.

This could be particularly useful for users with smartphones that have limited internal memory.

Core PUBG Mobile Gameplay Will Remain

PUBG Mobile Light is expected to retain the familiar battle royale experience rather than offering a heavily simplified version of the game.

The title will include Erangel, along with the core gameplay mechanics found in the regular PUBG Mobile app.

Players will also reportedly be able to access their existing in-game cosmetics. By signing in with their existing PUBG Mobile account, users can carry over items such as outfits and other cosmetic content.

Players Can Connect With Standard PUBG Mobile Users

PUBG Mobile Light will remain linked to the wider PUBG Mobile ecosystem. Players using the lighter version will be able to play with friends who are using the standard PUBG Mobile application.

The two versions are also expected to receive new content and updates together. This means Light users should not be completely separated from the main PUBG Mobile player base.

Pre-Registration Opens August 25

PUBG Mobile Light is confirmed for a 2026 release, although its exact launch date has not yet been revealed.

Pre-registration is scheduled to open on August 25 through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Additional information about supported devices and regional availability could be announced before the full release.

Not the Same as PUBG Mobile Lite

The name may cause some confusion because PUBG Mobile Lite has already been available as a smaller version of PUBG Mobile.

However, the two games follow different approaches. PUBG Mobile Lite was designed with fewer features to support lower-end hardware, while PUBG Mobile Light is being developed around reducing the game’s storage footprint while retaining the main experience.

BGMI Lite Could Follow in India

The development of PUBG Mobile Light also comes amid reports that BGMI Lite could arrive in India later this year. Like PUBG Mobile Light, the reported Indian version is expected to focus on users with entry-level smartphones.

Krafton India has also been expanding its gaming initiatives through programmes such as BGMI Campus MVP, which brings student ambassadors from engineering institutes into campus gaming communities.

The first group reportedly includes 150 students representing 17 IITs and 28 NITs. The programme involves activities such as tournaments, gaming content, meet-ups and community-building events.
