Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a three-day visit to Chhattisgarh. He arrived in the state capital, Raipur, on Friday night. During his visit, Shah will participate in various programs, including an inter-state coordination meeting, until August 25th. Shah landed at Raipur’s Swami Vivekananda Airport around 10 PM on Friday, where he was welcomed by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and other officials.

Events and Meetings:

After arriving, Shah went to a hotel in Naya Raipur. On August 24th, he was scheduled to visit Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya Ashram at 10:30 AM. At 11:30 AM, he participated in the inter-state coordination meeting with Chief Secretaries and Police Directors General of Chhattisgarh and neighboring states.

Today’s Schedule:

  • 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM: Shah attended the Inter-State Coordination Committee meeting.
  • 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: He reviewed the work of the Chhattisgarh Police.
  • 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Shah reviewed the development projects in Chhattisgarh.
  • 8:00 PM – 9:30 PM: He had a one-on-one discussion with the Director General of Police (DGP).

Security and Development Discussions:

Officials mentioned that after these meetings, Shah attended a security and development meeting focused on the left-wing extremism-affected areas of Chhattisgarh at 2:30 PM. On August 25th, he is scheduled to inaugurate the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) office in Raipur at 10:30 AM and participate in a review meeting. At 1:30 PM, he will attend a meeting focused on the expansion of cooperatives in Chhattisgarh.

Boosting Anti-Naxal Operations:

This is Amit Shah’s first visit to Chhattisgarh in the third term of the Modi government. Since the BJP came to power in last year’s state assembly elections, the anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh have intensified. So far this year, security forces have killed 142 Naxalites in various encounters across the state.
