49 people have died in a land dispute between Shia and Sunni communities in Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Apart from this, more than 200 people have been injured.

The root of this dispute is 30 acres of land. There is a dispute between two tribes in Bushehra village of Kurram district regarding its ownership rights.

According to the report of Times of Kashi, this fight started between two families on Wednesday last week, which soon spread between two tribes. Now there is tension in the entire district regarding this.

According to Pakistani TV channel Sama News, the Sunni community is getting support from the Afghan tribes across the border, due to which they are getting overwhelmed.

Fighting started between two families, spread throughout the district
Kurram Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Meshud told local media that this fighting between two communities has been going on for 6 days. He, along with the authorities, has brokered an agreement between the two communities with the help of elders of the tribal community Jirga and others, but there are still reports of firing in other parts of the district.

Local police officer Murtaza Hussain told Pakistani newspaper Dawn that the dispute between Sunni Midghi and Shia Malikhel communities started in 2007. Even then there were incidents of violence. There was also a dispute in July last year, after which there was fighting between Shia and Sunni communities. Many people were killed in this.

The controversy ended last year, started again
Last year, after the fighting between the two sides stopped, an agreement was reached between them. It was decided that the government would decide whose land it is. Both the parties will have to follow the rules of the Land Commission which resolves land disputes.

After this the commission gave its decision and gave this land to the Shia community, but after a year the dispute started again regarding it. On Wednesday, a land related dispute was being discussed when a person opened fire. After this a bloody conflict started between the two communities.

There are many disputes before the formation of Pakistan, the solution has not been found till now
According to the report of Sama Channel, currently eight major conflicts are going on in Kurram. Most of these are before the formation of Pakistan. All these matters are related to land.

Due to lack of land reforms this dispute continues till now. Whenever a dispute starts between them, it turns from a clan fight into a communal conflict.
