The issue of power cuts in Delhi has turned into a political battle between AAP and BJP. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has accused Acting Chief Minister Atishi Marlena and AAP leaders of misleading the public and spreading false information.
BJP’s Allegations Against AAP
Virendra Sachdeva claimed that the Delhi public knows how the Arvind Kejriwal government and private power distribution companies (discoms) have been working together to exploit consumers for years.
He further said that BJP had previously exposed the unfair charges imposed on electricity bills under PPAC and other categories. Now, as BJP is likely to form the government, Atishi is creating a conspiracy and trying to manipulate power discoms.
Are Power Cuts Being Deliberately Delayed?
Sachdeva also claimed that there is no major power outage in Delhi, but due to AAP’s influence, small technical breakdowns are being deliberately delayed in getting fixed. He challenged Atishi to provide proof of areas facing actual power cuts.
Warning to Power Discoms
The Delhi BJP President warned power discoms that if they collaborate with AAP leaders to cause unnecessary power cuts or delays in repairs, they will be investigated once BJP forms the government.
AAP’s Counterattack
Atishi had earlier blamed BJP for the power cuts, claiming that as soon as AAP lost power, Delhi started experiencing major electricity shortages.
She also said that both the public and BJP supporters are complaining about power outages on social media. Many people are forced to buy inverters, and some have even called her to say that they regret supporting BJP.
“Delhi is Becoming Like UP”
Atishi further criticized BJP, saying that in just three days, Delhi’s electricity situation has become like Uttar Pradesh. She also raised concerns that if there are power cuts in February, the situation in May, June, and July could become even worse.
