India has won 6 medals so far at the Paris Olympics 2024, one less than the 7 medals India won at the Tokyo Olympics. Even though India is one medal short of its previous Olympic tally, the Paris Olympics has been special for the Indian team.

India’s Achievements So Far
India has won 6 medals so far at the Paris Olympics, with athletes like Manu Bhaker, Sarabjot Singh, Swapnil Kusale, the Indian Hockey Team, Neeraj Chopra, and Aman Sehrawat contributing to the tally. India has secured three medals in shooting, one medal in wrestling, Neeraj Chopra won a silver medal in javelin throw, and the Indian hockey team won a bronze medal. India has won 5 bronze and 1 silver medal in total.

While India has yet to win a gold medal in Paris and remains behind its Tokyo tally, there is still hope that India might win one or two more medals before the games conclude.

India’s Total Medal Count
Before the Paris Olympics, India had won a total of 35 medals in Olympic history. With the 6 new medals, India’s total has now crossed 40. Indian athletes competed in 16 sports at the Paris Olympics. Although some promising athletes missed out on medals, such as Lakshya Sen, who was expected to win a medal, their performances have nonetheless inspired hope for the future.

Strong Performances But Narrow Misses
Several Indian athletes narrowly missed out on medals, finishing in fourth place:

  1. Arjun Babuta
  2. Mixed Archery Team – Dheeraj and Ankita
  3. Manu Bhaker – 25m Pistol
  4. Mixed Skeet Team – Maheshwari and Anantjeet
  5. Lakshya Sen – Lost the bronze medal match
  6. Nisha Dahiya – Lost due to injury

  9. Mirabai Chanu – Finished fourth in weightlifting, missing bronze by just 1 kg
  10. Nishant Dev – Lost due to a referee/judge error, which could have secured a medal.

Hope for the Future
Despite missing out on some medals, India’s athletes have performed exceptionally well, raising hopes for more medals in future Olympics.

  • Shooting: India won three medals in shooting, thanks to Manu Bhaker, Sarabjot Singh, and Swapnil Kusale. Their performances have inspired future athletes to aim for Olympic glory.
