After dominating England in the T20 series, Team India is now ready to challenge the English side in the three-match ODI series. The first match will be played on Thursday, February 6, in Nagpur. Here’s a look at India’s possible playing XI for this game.
Top Order Confirmed
India’s top order is already set. Captain Rohit Sharma and young star Shubman Gill will open the innings. At number three, Virat Kohli is expected to play. Kohli had an impressive performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup and will look to continue his form ahead of the Champions Trophy. Shreyas Iyer is likely to bat at number four.
Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep May Miss Out
When the team was announced, captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar made it clear that KL Rahul would be the first-choice wicketkeeper. Although Rishabh Pant is part of the squad, he may not get a spot in the playing XI. Spinner Washington Sundar and left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav are also likely to be on the bench.
Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy Likely to Play
In the fast-bowling department, Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Shami are expected to lead the attack, with Hardik Pandya providing additional support. For spin, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel will be key, along with Varun Chakravarthy, who was recently added to the squad. Varun impressed by taking 14 wickets in the five-match T20 series against England.
