New details are emerging every day in the Kolkata rape and murder case. The CBI is currently investigating the matter, and they recently conducted a polygraph test on the main accused, Sanjay Rai. According to police sources, Sanjay Rai was looking for a lone woman since early afternoon on the day of the incident.
Accused Targeted a Lone Woman
Police sources revealed that on the day of the incident, Sanjay Rai first went to the red-light areas of Sonagachi and Kalighat with his friend Saurabh, who is also a volunteer. However, they couldn’t agree on a price there, so Sanjay continued searching for a lone woman.
Harassed a Girl Before the Crime
After returning from the red-light area, Sanjay Rai moved towards RG Kar College. Before reaching the RG Kar Hospital, he harassed a girl on the way. When he reached the hospital, he initially considered targeting a patient or attendant outside, but he feared creating a scene. He then entered the hospital, looking for someone inside.
Found the Victim in the Seminar Hall
As he moved through the hospital, Sanjay reached the seminar hall where he found a trainee female doctor sleeping alone. This was the kind of victim he had been searching for. Police sources say that Sanjay first made the doctor unconscious before raping her. However, it’s still under investigation whether he killed her before or after the rape.
Accused Had Knowledge of Choking Techniques
Sanjay Rai was a good boxer, so he knew how to choke someone into unconsciousness. He immediately strangled the doctor when he found her. Despite her efforts to resist, she couldn’t escape. After raping her, he killed her and fled the scene within 40 minutes.
Bluetooth Device Led to Arrest
Sanjay made a mistake while fleeing—he dropped his Bluetooth device at the scene. When the police arrived, they found the Bluetooth device and traced it back to Sanjay using his phone’s MAC ID, confirming that it belonged to him.
Caught on CCTV Footage
Before identifying and arresting Sanjay, the Kolkata Police had to go through several steps. They compiled a list of all patients, attendants, doctors, nurses, hospital staff, and security guards present that night. After questioning everyone, they checked the hospital’s CCTV footage, which showed Sanjay entering the hospital and later leaving in a distressed state. The staff at the hospital’s police post recognized him.
Found Hundreds of Porn Videos on His Phone
When the police examined Sanjay Rai’s phone, they found hundreds of porn videos in his history. He used the internet to watch these videos, which were of a disturbing nature. During interrogation, Sanjay admitted that he had no remorse for what he did to the trainee doctor.
