Manu Bhaker, a double medalist from the Paris Olympics, has returned to India. She arrived on Wednesday morning to a grand welcome. As soon as she came out of the airport, her parents embraced her and kissed her forehead. Her coach, Jaspal Rana, was also warmly welcomed.
During her visit, Manu met several prominent figures, including Haryana Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Haryana’s new Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Additionally, she had the opportunity to meet Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, where her parents and coach were also present. Manu also offered sweets to Rahul Gandhi.
Manu, from Jhajjar in Haryana, won bronze medals in both the Women’s Individual 10 Meter Air Pistol and the Mixed Event with Sarabjot Singh. She is the first Indian to win two medals in a single Olympics.
On returning to India, Manu expressed her happiness, saying, “I am very glad to receive so much love.” She will return to Paris for the Olympics’ closing ceremony, where she will be the flag bearer for India. Famous hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh will join her as the flag bearer at the ceremony on Sunday.
Manu shared her experience with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on social media, celebrating the success of their country. Before finalizing the decision, the President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), PT Usha, spoke with Neeraj Chopra, who also supported the choice of Sreejesh as the flag bearer, following his own silver medal win at the Paris Olympics.
