At the Tirupati Balaji temple, the sacred Sri Vari Laddu Prasadam is once again being offered to devotees. The temple trust announced on social media that the purity of the Sri Vari Laddu Prasadam has been restored.
Earlier, there was an uproar in Andhra Pradesh after reports claimed that animal fat-based oil was being used in the Tirupati temple’s laddu. Following these allegations, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and BJP criticized the Jagan Mohan Reddy government for the incident. Due to the controversy, the distribution of the laddu as prasadam was temporarily stopped.
Lab Report Findings
TDP spokesperson Anam Venkata Reddy claimed that the ghee samples provided by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the famous Sri Venkateswara Swami temple, were found to be adulterated by a livestock laboratory in Gujarat. He presented a lab report showing the presence of animal fat, lard (related to pig fat), and fish oil in the ghee. The samples were collected on July 9, 2024, and the lab report was issued on July 16, 2024.

Temple Management’s Response
Neither the Andhra Pradesh government nor the TTD has officially confirmed the lab report. Senior YSRCP leader and Rajya Sabha member Y.V. Subba Reddy said that Naidu’s accusations have harmed the sacred nature of the deity and hurt the feelings of the devotees.
