In Madhya Pradesh, there has been significant political tension between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress over soybean prices. On Friday, September 20, Congress organized a protest across the state. In Indore, they planned a Kisan Nyay Yatra, but the administration partially revoked the permission for it. The district administration took strict action against the tractor rally planned in the city center.

Indore Collector Ashish Singh explained that permissions for the Congress protest were issued through the police department. Congress leaders were clearly instructed that they could come symbolically to the collector’s office but were not allowed to hold a tractor rally through the city. This led to protests from Congress leaders.

Collector Cites Safety Concerns

Congress leaders insisted they would reach the collector’s office via a tractor rally, but the police department did not grant this permission. Since Indore is under police commissioner jurisdiction, the police department has the authority to deny such requests. Collector Ashish Singh told ABP News that allowing a large number of tractors into the city would increase the risk of accidents and disrupt traffic. This is why permission was not granted.

Focus of the Kisan Nyay Yatra

The Kisan Nyay Yatra in Indore was organized to address the issue of soybean prices, led by Congress leaders. They aimed to conduct the rally through the city center using tractors.
