Coldplay Concert Tickets: The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has taken strict action against the black marketing of Coldplay concert tickets. Maharashtra Cyber Chief Yashasvi Yadav stated that during big events, some people buy large numbers of tickets and then resell them at higher prices through different platforms and social media.
Instructions to Ticketing Platforms
After investigating the issue, the cyber cell called the officials of two major ticketing platforms, BookMyShow and Zomato, and gave them important instructions.
- Tickets Should Be Sold in the Buyer’s Name
- For high-demand events, tickets must be issued with the buyer’s name to prevent resale at inflated prices.
- ID Verification at the Venue
- At the event venue, the ticket holder must show a valid Indian government ID (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Driving License).
- The name on the ticket must match the ID to gain entry.
Cyber Cell to Release a White Paper
The Maharashtra Cyber Cell will soon release a white paper on this issue. This document, created with input from ticketing platforms, will include legal guidelines and technical changes required for secure ticket sales.
Legal Complaint Against Ticket Scalping
Lawyer Amit Vyas filed a complaint regarding the Coldplay concert scheduled from January 19 to January 21, 2025. He alleged that ticket prices, originally ₹2,500, were being resold by third parties for up to ₹3 lakh.
The Maharashtra Cyber Cell is now actively working to stop this ticket black marketing and ensure fair ticket sales for everyone.
