Political tensions have risen over Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent statement where he mentioned Bangladesh as an example and said, “If we divide, we will fall.” Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav responded sharply to this statement, criticizing Yogi Adityanath for spreading fear instead of providing security.

Akhilesh Yadav took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to respond to CM Yogi’s statement. He said that in BJP’s rule, the so-called “double engine” government has been hiding in fear.

Akhilesh Yadav’s Counter to the ‘Divide and Fall’ Statement

Akhilesh Yadav wrote, “The job of responsible leaders is to protect people from fear, not spread it. If these are his personal views, they are wrong, and if they represent his party’s views, they are even more wrong. In this atmosphere of fear created by BJP rule, has the double engine government gone into hiding? This is a condemnable statement!”

Earlier, when asked by journalists about Yogi Adityanath’s ambitions, Akhilesh Yadav had said that Yogi seems to want to play the role of Prime Minister. He added that the role of maintaining international relations is for the Prime Minister, and he hopes that those in Delhi will advise Yogi to not interfere in matters that are decided in the capital.

On Monday, during an event in Agra, CM Yogi Adityanath had addressed the public, saying that nothing is more important than the nation, and the nation will only be strong if we stay united. Referring to Bangladesh, he warned that the mistakes seen there should not happen here. He emphasized, “If we divide, we will fall. If we stay united, we will be righteous and safe.”
