BCCI Fines Glenn Maxwell After Punjab’s Win Over CSK – Here’s What Happened

In the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings, star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell broke the rules of the IPL code of conduct. Even though Punjab won the match by 18 runs, BCCI has fined Maxwell 25% of his match fee and given him one demerit point.


What Did Maxwell Do Wrong?

According to the official statement from IPL, Glenn Maxwell was fined for misusing match equipment or fixtures during the game. This is a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL code of conduct. Maxwell accepted his mistake and also accepted the match referee’s decision, which is final and binding in Level 1 violations.

  • Punjab Kings beat CSK by 18 runs at the New PCA Stadium, New Chandigarh.
  • Priyansh Arya was the hero of the match, scoring a brilliant 103 runs from 42 balls and winning the Player of the Match award.

Maxwell’s Performance in IPL 2025

So far, Maxwell has not performed well with the bat in this season:

  • He has scored only 31 runs in 3 matches.
  • His scores: 30 (vs RR), 0 (vs GT), and 1 (vs CSK).
  • However, he has contributed with the ball and has taken 3 wickets in the tournament so far.

Under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, Punjab Kings are doing well this season:

  • Won 3 out of 4 matches.
  • They are currently at 4th place in the points table.
  • Their only loss came in the third match, but they bounced back by defeating CSK.
