The newly developed airport, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 1, is expected to improve regional connectivity and support the growing demand for air travel in Andhra Pradesh.

Passenger Flights to Start This Month

Following its inauguration and completion of regulatory approvals, the Andhra Pradesh government has confirmed that scheduled commercial services will commence from August 17.

During its first phase, the airport has the capacity to serve around six million passengers annually.

According to the long-term development plan, the airport’s infrastructure can eventually be expanded to accommodate up to 40 million passengers every year, making it one of the largest aviation hubs planned for the region.

The passenger terminal has also been designed with expansion capabilities to handle increasing passenger traffic in the coming years.

The launch of commercial operations is expected to significantly improve air connectivity for people living in north coastal Andhra Pradesh, including Vizianagaram and nearby districts.
