Kiran Choudhry, a former leader of the Haryana Congress, recently resigned from her position as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Kiran Choudhry and her daughter, Shruti Choudhry, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a meeting at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi. The event was attended by several senior leaders, including Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
Kiran Choudhry, who was the daughter-in-law of former Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal, represented the Tosham constituency in Bhiwani district. Her daughter, Shruti Choudhry, had also served as the working president of the Haryana Congress unit. Both mother and daughter submitted their resignations from the Congress party’s primary membership on Tuesday. In their resignation, they hinted at their dissatisfaction with the way the party’s state unit was being run, which seemed to be a veiled criticism of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Speaking about joining the BJP, Shruti Choudhry said, “It is a matter of great pride that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Manohar Lal Khattar have worked with Chaudhary Bansi Lal. We are joining the BJP to strengthen both the country and the state. I thank Manohar Lal Khattar, Nayab Singh Saini, and Tarun Chugh for this opportunity.”
On this occasion, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini warmly welcomed Kiran and Shruti Choudhry into the BJP, stating, “I wholeheartedly welcome and thank Kiran Choudhry and Shruti Choudhry. I assure them that, together with the BJP, we will work like a family to strengthen Haryana. The experience of Kiran Choudhry and her family will make the BJP even stronger.”
