In Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharsawan district, the body of trainee pilot Subrodeep Dutta, who went missing after taking off from Sonari Airport, has been recovered from Chandil Dam. The search for the instructor, Captain Jeet Sataru, is still ongoing.

At the request of Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, a 15-member Navy team from Hyderabad arrived early Thursday morning at 4:30 AM to conduct a rescue operation in Chandil Dam.

On Tuesday, the trainee aircraft VT Juliet (VT Taj) took off from Jamshedpur’s Sonari Airport, but lost contact with the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system just 15 minutes after takeoff. Since then, efforts have been ongoing to locate both individuals. The body of the trainee pilot has now been found, but the search for Captain Sataru continues.

On Wednesday evening, a special flight brought the Navy team, equipped with four hydrocell machines and other necessary tools, to Ranchi. The team then reached Chandil Dam at 4:30 AM on Thursday to begin the rescue operation. The families of Captain Jeet Sataru and trainee Subrodeep Dutta are devastated by the incident.
