Prashant Kishor, the founder of Jan Suraaj and a well-known election strategist, often has the name “Pandey” attached to his name by some people. Many leaders have referred to him as “Prashant Pandey.” However, Kishor has now given a strong response to those who add “Pandey” to his name. In a TV interview, he asked, “Where is it written in the Constitution that upper-caste people cannot participate in politics or make political efforts?”
‘My Name is Not Pandey, But…’
When asked a question, Prashant Kishor replied, “Some people call me ‘Pandey Ji’s son.’ Nitish Kumar belongs to the Kurmi caste, so how many Kurmis are there in Bihar? I do not believe in caste. My name does not have ‘Pandey,’ but people are using it for political reasons. If you count the number of Brahmins in Bihar, they are more than Kurmis.”

‘How Many People Belong to Nitish Kumar’s Caste?’
Prashant Kishor added, “If someone from the Kurmi community can lead Bihar, why can’t someone from the Brahmin, Kushwaha, Nonia, Sahni, Musahar, or Paswan community? Some people have spread the false idea that if your caste is not large in number, you can’t contest or win elections. So, how many people belong to Nitish Kumar’s caste?”
Kishor has been meeting people in different districts as part of his political journey. He has announced that in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, his Jan Suraaj platform will field candidates for all 243 seats. On October 2, he will officially turn Jan Suraaj into a political party. He has promised to give opportunities to Muslim candidates on 40 seats and ensure proper representation of women. It will be interesting to see how successful Kishor is in his political efforts. Additionally, he has announced that Jan Suraaj will field a candidate in the Ramgarh by-elections in Bihar.
