Railways vs Delhi: Crowd Injures Virat Kohli Fans Outside Arun Jaitley Stadium

The group stage of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 started today, January 30. Delhi is playing against Railways in this important match. Star cricketer Virat Kohli is representing Delhi, and the match is being held at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Excited fans gathered outside the stadium to catch a glimpse of Kohli, causing a large crowd to form. Unfortunately, some fans got injured in the chaos.

Fans Injured in the Crowd

According to a report by India Today, fans outside Gate No. 16 started pushing each other, causing several people to fall and get hurt. During the commotion, a police motorcycle was also damaged.

At least three people were reported injured. Security staff and police treated the injured fans on the spot. One fan even needed a bandage for a leg injury. A security guard was also hurt while controlling the situation.

Many fans lost their shoes and slippers in the chaos. The report mentioned that DDCA (Delhi & District Cricket Association) did not expect such a large crowd. Initially, only three gates were open, but after seeing the crowd, one more gate was opened. The Gautam Gambhir Stand was initially open, but later another stand was also made available for fans.

Kohli’s Return to Ranji Trophy After 12 Years

This match marked Kohli’s return to the Ranji Trophy after more than 12 years. He last played in the tournament in November 2012. Fans were eager to see him back in domestic cricket, making this match a special event.
