On the last day of the Delhi Assembly election campaign, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit targeted both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking at ABP News’ special program Shikhar Sammelan, Dikshit stated that questions will naturally be asked of the party in power.
Congress Strength Benefiting BJP?
When asked if a stronger Congress in Delhi would help BJP, Sandeep Dikshit said, “Where does this idea come from? AAP went to Uttarakhand to sing devotional songs. What did they achieve in Gujarat and Haryana? What about Goa? Did they go there to defeat the BJP? They have always cut Congress votes.”
What Did He Say About BJP?
Competing against Arvind Kejriwal and BJP’s Parvesh Verma, Dikshit shared, “I filed complaints against both BJP and AAP. If no FIR is registered, what can I do? I’m not a police officer.”
On not criticizing the BJP, he said, “Why should I talk about them? They’ve been out of power in Delhi for 25 years. People even rejected them in the MCD elections. We are attacking the government currently in power.”
What Does Sandeep Dikshit Do Besides Politics?
Sandeep Dikshit, son of the late former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, said, “I have not been in politics 24/7. I’ve taught and worked in the agricultural sector in Madhya Pradesh under an NGO. Politics is not my profession. People should engage in other work too. I served as an MP and remained connected with the public.”
He added, “We are fighting elections based on issues. If I promise Rs 5,000 for votes, that is wrong.” Regarding allegations of Parvesh Verma distributing money, Dikshit said, “Giving bribes is wrong. If the government announces and provides schemes, that is legal.”
