In addition, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, is under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for financial irregularities. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had previously questioned Dr. Ghosh at his home and raided four other locations, including the home of Dr. Debasish Som, a forensic medicine demonstrator at the college. The ED is now continuing the investigation.
On August 9, the body of a female junior doctor was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College. The body was missing clothes, bleeding, and showed signs of injury. Police arrested Sanjay Roy in connection with this case. Following the incident, junior doctors went on strike, demanding swift justice from the government. They have been on strike for nearly a month.
