Municipal elections are coming soon in Maharashtra, and political heat is rising. Recently, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray appeared on the same stage after almost 20 years, which has become a big topic in state politics.
🔹 Will Uddhav and Raj Fight Together?
It is not yet clear if Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray will fight the elections together. However, from the stage, Uddhav said:
“We have come together to stay together.”
Uddhav Thackeray is part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, along with Congress and Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP).
💰 BMC – India’s Richest Municipal Corporation
All eyes are on Mumbai’s BMC elections. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is the richest civic body in India.
For the financial year 2025-26, BMC announced its biggest-ever budget of ₹74,400 crore.
🟧 Uddhav Thackeray’s Stronghold in BMC
In the last elections (2017), Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena was the biggest party in BMC. But in June 2022, political equations changed – Shiv Sena split, and a new government was formed under Eknath Shinde (Mahayuti alliance).
Now, the upcoming BMC elections will be important for the future of both Uddhav and Raj Thackeray. At the same time, BJP will try to gain full control of BMC.
🗳️ BMC Election Results 2017 (Total 227 Seats)
- Shiv Sena (Uddhav) – 84 seats
- BJP – 82 seats
- Congress – 31 seats
- NCP – 9 seats
- MNS (Raj Thackeray) – 7 seats
- Others – 14 seats
⚠️ NCP is Also Split Now
Just like Shiv Sena, NCP is also divided.
- Ajit Pawar has the official party name and symbol.
- Sharad Pawar’s group is now called NCP (SP).
🔚 Conclusion
The unity of Uddhav and Raj Thackeray may bring big changes in the upcoming BMC elections. But BJP and its allies are confident that it won’t affect them. The fight for Mumbai is going to be intense and may shape the political future of many leaders in Maharashtra.
