Fire in Gwalior Trauma Center ICU: One Dead, Seven in Critical Condition

A fire broke out in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of the Trauma Center at Jayarogya Hospital in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The hospital staff quickly controlled the fire and moved the patients to other rooms. Unfortunately, one patient died due to suffocation.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning around 7 AM when the compressor pipe of an air conditioning unit burst, causing the fire. There were 10 patients in the ICU, with 7 in serious condition. One of the patients, Azad Khan from Shivpuri, was on a ventilator, and the others were in the ICU for neurological treatment.

Staff Controlled the Fire

As soon as the fire started, the hospital staff acted quickly and used a fire extinguisher to control the flames. However, by then, the false ceiling and one bed had already caught fire, filling the entire ICU with smoke. All patients were immediately moved to another room.

Patient Dies After Ventilator Removed

One patient, Azad Khan, passed away during the incident. He had been admitted to the ICU after being injured in a road accident and was on a ventilator. When the ventilator was removed to shift him to another room, he couldn’t survive.
