New revelations are emerging daily in the Kolkata rape-murder case. The CBI is currently investigating the entire incident and is dealing with a total of 47 people, including the accused, witnesses, and others involved. The CBI is taking its time to reach a conclusion.

The CBI has conducted polygraph tests on 10 people so far, meaning about 20% of those involved have been tested. The agency is testing anyone whose statements raise suspicion. Those tested include the main accused, Sanjay Roy, former RG Kar College principal Sandeep Ghosh, ASI Arup Dutta, 4 trainee doctors, a civil volunteer, and 2 hospital security guards. Sources suggest the CBI may take significant action in the case within a day or two.

The investigation agency plans to seek help from AIIMS Delhi experts to analyze DNA and forensic reports. This will help determine if Sanjay Roy was the only person involved in the crime or if there were others. It will also clarify whether the trainee doctor was raped by one person or if it was a gang rape.

According to police sources, on the day of the incident, Sanjay Roy first went to the red-light areas of Sonagachhi and Kalighat with his friend Saurabh (who is also a volunteer). However, things didn’t go as planned due to a money issue. Since then, Sanjay had been looking for a woman who was alone.

When police examined Sanjay Roy’s phone, they found that he had watched hundreds of porn videos. He accessed these videos using the internet, and the types of videos he watched were unusual. During interrogation, Sanjay confessed that he had no remorse for what he did to the trainee doctor.

In response to the Kolkata doctor rape-murder case, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has suspended the membership of RG Kar Hospital’s former principal, Sandeep Ghosh.

What Is the Case About?
The body of the trainee doctor was found on the morning of August 9 inside the seminar hall of the hospital. Sanjay Roy was arrested the next day. On August 13, the Calcutta High Court ordered the case to be transferred from Kolkata Police to the CBI. The CBI began its investigation on August 14.
