In the tragic case of three students’ deaths at the Old Rajendra Nagar coaching center, the building owners faced a major setback as their bail plea was rejected by the Rouse Avenue Court. The Principal District and Sessions Judge, Anju Bajaj Chandna, stated, “The investigation is still in its initial stages. I am not in favor of granting bail.”
The court made this decision after hearing arguments from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the lawyers of the four co-owners of the building’s basement – Parvinder Singh, Tajinder Singh, Harvinder Singh, and Sarabjit Singh. The court had reserved its judgment on the bail plea on August 17.
The CBI opposed the bail plea of the building owners, arguing that since the investigation is still at an early stage, the court should not grant them bail. The court accepted this argument.
On the evening of July 27, three students – Shreya Yadav, Tanya Soni, and Nevin Delvin – died when rainwater flooded the basement of Rao IAS Study Circle in Old Rajendra Nagar. The Delhi High Court had transferred the investigation of the Rajendra Nagar coaching case from the Delhi Police to the CBI to ensure that the public had no doubts about the investigation.
