A shocking incident has come to light from Pimpri-Chinchwad, an industrial city near Pune, following a similar case in Badlapur. A teacher who was previously arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was released and then rehired by the same school. Unfortunately, the teacher repeated the same crime with another child. The police have now arrested not only the teacher but also six school officials involved.
What Happened?
The incident took place at Kirti School in Nigdi Pradhikaran. The accused teacher, Nivrutti Kalbhor, inappropriately touched a 12-year-old girl. He was arrested and charged under the POCSO Act. However, after his release, the school rehired him. On August 21, 2024, the accused repeated the crime with the same child.
When the Nigdi Police learned of the incident, they arrested not only the teacher but also the principal, Ashok Jadhav, and six other school officials, including trustees and a female member of the Kirti School management. The police have registered a case under IPC Section 354 and POCSO Act Sections 7, 8, and 12.
Recent Case in Badlapur
A similar incident occurred recently in Badlapur, where two young girls were sexually assaulted. The school’s janitor, Akshay Shinde, is accused of the crime. The incidents took place on August 12 and 13, and have led to widespread protests in Thane. People are demanding strict punishment for the culprits. A preliminary investigation report has been submitted to the state government, revealing that the hymens of both girls were broken, indicating repeated sexual abuse over the past 15 days.
