In Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, liquor shops are offering a “Buy One, Get One Free” deal on alcohol. This offer, given by the Excise Department of UP, is valid until March 31. Due to this, liquor shops are witnessing huge crowds as people rush to take advantage of the deal.
AAP Leaders Criticize Yogi Government
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly criticized the Yogi Adityanath government over this liquor scheme. Delhi’s former minister Atishi and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh took to social media to express their concerns.
✅ Atishi posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“One bottle free with one purchase. I hope BJP leaders will protest against this. I also hope that the ED and CBI will immediately investigate this scam.”
✅ Sanjay Singh also commented:
“Under Yogi’s rule, liquor is being sold with bumper offers. In UP, you get one bottle free on the purchase of one. This is the real liquor scam, but there is silence everywhere. RSS and BJP leaders are quiet on this. AAP will protest in all UP districts on March 29.”
Long Queues at Liquor Shops
This scheme is attracting massive crowds outside liquor stores, especially in Noida and NCR areas. Many people are purchasing liquor in bulk before the March 31 deadline.
Why is This Offer Available?
🔹 The Excise Department’s license period ends on March 31 every year.
🔹 After this date, shops must renew their licenses.
🔹 Due to the recent e-lottery system for shop allocation, many old liquor store owners did not get new licenses.
🔹 To clear their remaining stock, they are offering “Buy One, Get One Free” deals.
With AAP announcing statewide protests on March 29, this issue has turned into a political controversy.
