A ceasefire was just starting between Iran and Israel when reports of violations began to appear. According to a report by the Associated Press, the Israeli army said that they detected missile attacks from Iran just a few hours after the ceasefire began. This shows how dangerous the situation still is. However, Iran’s official media denied the claims. They said that the Iranian military has not launched any missiles towards Israel in recent hours.
Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said he has ordered the army to respond strongly if Iran breaks the ceasefire.
The Israeli military claimed that they detected missiles fired from Iran just 2.5 hours after the ceasefire started. Sirens were heard in northern Israel, and people also heard explosions as Israeli air defense systems targeted the incoming missiles.
Earlier, before the ceasefire began on Tuesday morning, Iran launched several ballistic missiles at Israel, damaging at least three residential buildings in Beersheba. Local agencies said they found five bodies in a building after the missile strike and were searching for more people. At least 20 people were injured.
A video from Beersheba shows a residential area completely destroyed by an Iranian missile. In the video, you can see burnt cars and damaged trees where the missile had fallen.
Israel Accepts Ceasefire with Conditions
Israeli media earlier said that Israel is testing the ceasefire. It would last until 7 PM local time. During this time, Israel will not start any military actions. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government said they want to see if Tehran respects the ceasefire before agreeing to a longer one.
It is important to note that U.S. President Donald Trump was the first to announce that a step-by-step ceasefire would begin at around 4:00 AM GMT, with Iran expected to stop operations first.
At first, Israel did not confirm the ceasefire, but later, Netanyahu said that Israel had achieved all its goals. He claimed that Israel now has air superiority over Tehran, has weakened Iran’s military leadership, and has destroyed important military bases in Iran.
