Maruti Launches New 5-Star Safety Rated Victoris SUV – First Look

On 3rd September 2025, Maruti Suzuki launched its brand-new SUV, Victoris, in India. While it is based on the Grand Vitara, the company has given it a unique identity. Unlike the Grand Vitara, which is sold through Nexa outlets, the new Victoris will be sold via Arena dealerships. This move means Victoris will be more accessible to a wider range of customers across the country.

Design and Exterior

The Victoris comes with sleek wide headlamps, stylish tail-lamps with new detailing, and 17-inch alloy wheels. While its overall size feels similar to the Grand Vitara, the refreshed styling makes it look sportier and more attractive on the road.

Engine and Variants

Maruti Suzuki has offered the Victoris with multiple powertrain options:

  • 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine with both manual and automatic transmission.
  • Strong-hybrid powertrain paired with an eCVT gearbox.
  • All-Wheel Drive (AWD) option, available in the mild-hybrid variant.
  • CNG version, designed in such a way that the boot space is not compromised.

This variety of choices makes the SUV suitable for different customer needs, from fuel efficiency to performance.

Premium Interior and Features

Inside, the Victoris feels like the most premium Maruti SUV so far. It gets a new dashboard layout, digital instrument cluster, and updated steering buttons.

Feature highlights include:

  • ADAS Level 2
  • Electronic parking brake
  • Power-adjustable driver seat
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Gesture-controlled powered tailgate
  • Alexa Auto connectivity
  • Ventilated seats
  • 8-speaker audio system with Dolby Atmos

All of these add to its luxury appeal, making it a feature-rich SUV.

Safety and Space

Safety is one of Victoris’ biggest strengths. It comes with 6 airbags as standard and has scored a 5-star BNCAP safety rating.

In terms of space, the SUV is good but not perfect. Tall passengers may find the headroom slightly tight, and the rear seat feels more comfortable for two people rather than three. However, a middle headrest has been provided.

First Impressions

At first glance, the Victoris looks like Maruti’s most premium SUV ever. It offers a stylish design, advanced technology, and strong safety features. Thanks to the Arena sales network, it will reach a larger audience compared to the Grand Vitara.

While headroom could have been better, overall, the Victoris stands out as a value-packed SUV with premium features at an attractive price point.
