Gujarat is facing severe flooding due to continuous heavy rainfall, leading to a chaotic situation in many areas. In the past three days, 26 people have lost their lives due to rain-related incidents, with 19 deaths reported recently. The heavy rains have caused waterlogging on roads, making it difficult for people to move around. The Akota Stadium area in Vadodara is also facing severe waterlogging.

Amid the heavy rainfall in Gujarat, some people spotted a crocodile on the road from their rooftop. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the crocodile sitting on a wall surrounded by water. The sight of the crocodile has increased the tension among residents.

According to officials, heavy rain continued in some parts of the state for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday. So far, 17,800 people have been evacuated from flood-affected areas. Police reported that the bodies of seven people, who went missing after being swept away while crossing a bridge near Dhavna village in Halvad Taluka, Morbi district, have been recovered.

Even though the rain has stopped in Vadodara, the Vishwamitri River has overflowed its banks and entered residential areas, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas. The flood has submerged many buildings, roads, and vehicles.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel over the phone to assess the situation and assured the state of all possible central assistance. Saurashtra’s Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Rajkot, and Porbandar districts received 50 to 200 millimeters of rain in 12 hours. Bhanvad Taluka recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 185 millimeters.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for extremely heavy rain in some districts of Saurashtra on Thursday. In Vadodara, teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the Army have been working to rescue people trapped in their homes and on rooftops.
