As the counting of votes for the Delhi Assembly elections began on Saturday, the BJP gained a decisive lead. Supporters at the BJP headquarters celebrated by dancing to drum beats and waving party flags. Many held large cutouts of the BJP’s symbol, the lotus, and applied saffron-colored powder to each other.
RLD’s Jayant Chaudhary Reacts
The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), an ally of the BJP in the NDA, responded to the trends. Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary congratulated the people of Delhi. On social media platform X, he posted, “Congratulations to the BJP and the people of Delhi!”
Current Trends
According to the latest updates from the Election Commission, BJP is leading on 41 out of 70 assembly seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is leading on 29 seats.
After seeing BJP’s significant early lead, the party’s Delhi president, Virendra Sachdeva, expressed confidence that the BJP would form the next government in Delhi.
He stated, “Delhi’s next Chief Minister will be from the BJP, and the central leadership will decide on the candidate.” Sachdeva made this statement after offering prayers at Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place.
BJP has been out of power in Delhi for the past 26 years, but the current trends are giving the party fresh hope for forming a government.
