Champions Trophy 2025 Semi-Final: India vs Australia Clash in Dubai

India’s Possible Playing XI for the Semi-Final

India may rely on a strong spin attack for this crucial match. Varun Chakravarthy is likely to be included in the playing eleven. He performed brilliantly against New Zealand, taking five wickets, which makes his selection almost certain. Along with him, India might also include Kuldeep Yadav. All-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel can play important roles as well.

In the batting department, Shreyas Iyer has been India’s top run-scorer so far, with 150 runs in three matches. His place in the playing eleven is almost confirmed. Shubman Gill has also been impressive, scoring a century against Bangladesh and accumulating 149 runs in three matches. Skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul will also be key players for India.

Australia’s Possible Playing XI for the Semi-Final

Australia played only one complete match in the group stage, as two of their games were washed out due to rain. However, they won their only match against England. Under the captaincy of Steve Smith, Australia is expected to field a strong team.

Travis Head and Jake Fraser-McGurk may open the innings. Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne will strengthen the middle order. Wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis is expected to be in the playing eleven, while Alex Carey could also find a place in the squad. Australia might rely on Glenn Maxwell for his all-round skills.

In the bowling department, Adam Zampa will lead the spin attack. Nathan Ellis and Spencer Johnson could be their key fast bowlers. Ben Dwarshuis may also get a chance in the team.

India’s Strength in Spin

India’s biggest strength in this semi-final could be their spin bowlers. Dubai’s pitch usually supports spinners, and having four spin options in the team might help India dominate. Varun Chakravarthy’s mystery spin can trouble Australian batters. Kuldeep Yadav is also in good form, and his wrist spin could be crucial. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are experienced all-rounders who can contribute with both bat and ball.

Australia’s Challenges

Australia has played fewer matches in the tournament, which means their team has had less practice under match conditions. Facing India’s spin attack on a dry pitch in Dubai might be tough for them. Their batters, especially openers, will need to adjust quickly to Indian spinners.
