Gujarat Assembly Session Begins Today: Bill Against Black Magic to be Introduced

The three-day monsoon session of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly starts today. The opposition has expressed discontent as there will be no question hour during this session. Several important topics will be discussed, including a bill prepared by the Home Department to prevent and eliminate human sacrifice, other inhuman practices, and black magic. The bill will be introduced by Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi.

Main Reason for Introducing the Bill

The bill aims to protect ordinary people from harmful and evil practices that flourish due to ignorance in society. It seeks to raise social awareness and create a healthy and safe environment, preventing the exploitation of people by those claiming supernatural powers or practicing black magic. The bill will address and eliminate inhuman practices, such as human sacrifices and other harmful rituals associated with black magic.

  1. The bill focuses on preventing and eliminating human sacrifice, harmful and inhuman practices, and black magic across the state of Gujarat.
  2. The bill will be implemented on a date specified by the state government through a public notification.
  3. The law will apply to any act of human sacrifice, inhuman practice, or black magic mentioned in the attached schedule of the bill. It will be enforced against anyone who performs, encourages, or propagates such acts.
  4. The bill will prohibit the promotion of human sacrifice, inhuman practices, and black magic. This includes publishing or distributing any material or literature related to these practices, and any direct or indirect involvement in promoting them will be penalized.
  5. The law will also target misleading advertisements related to magical treatments.
  6. No person will be allowed to promote or practice black magic or engage in any related business.
  7. Under the provisions of the bill, a guilty person can be sentenced to jail for six months to seven years, along with a fine ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000.
