The Narmada Dam, a lifeline for Gujarat, is nearing full capacity due to heavy rainfall. The water level in the dam has crossed 135 meters, leading to a high alert in the region. The dam is currently receiving an inflow of 2.13 lakh cusecs of water.

Rising Water Levels in Narmada Dam

Due to continuous heavy rains, the water level in the Sardar Sarovar Dam has been steadily rising. For the first time this season, the water level has crossed 135 meters. To manage the water level, 9 gates of the dam have been opened by 1.5 meters, and water is being released into the Narmada River. As a result, the districts along the river have been placed on high alert.

Alert for Nearby Villages

The authorities have advised people living near the riverbanks to remain vigilant. Fishermen have been asked not to fish in the Narmada River. To prevent any unwanted incidents, police have been deployed along the river in Ankleshwar. This season, the Narmada Dam is already 90% full. With the 9 gates now open, water is being released into the rivers, leading to alerts being issued for areas near the riverbanks.
