In the ongoing India vs England Test series, even after a big win in the second Test at Edgbaston, Team India’s playing XI is set to change for the third Test. Captain Shubman Gill has confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will play at Lord’s.
✅ Bumrah to Return in 3rd Test
Bumrah did not play in the second Test. Instead, Avesh Khan and Akash Deep were given chances. The third Test will begin on 10th July. Bumrah will play three out of five Tests in this series. He had earlier played in the first Test at Leeds, where he was the only bowler who performed well, even though India lost that match by 5 wickets.
🎯 What Did Gill Say About Bumrah?
Shubman Gill was named Player of the Match at Edgbaston after scoring 269 runs in the first innings and 161 in the second. He made a total of 430 runs, becoming the first Indian to score over 400 runs in a single Test match.
When asked after the match whether Bumrah would play in the third Test, Gill replied in one word: “Absolutely.”
❓ Who Will Be Dropped?
While Akash Deep was included in place of Bumrah, it will be very hard to drop him now. He took 10 wickets (4+6) in the second Test and destroyed England’s top order.
Now the big question is: If Akash Deep stays, who goes out?
📉 Likely to Be Dropped: Prasidh Krishna
Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has not performed well in the last two Tests. His economy rate has been poor—over 6 runs per over in the first Test and 5.54 in the first innings of the second Test. In total, he has taken 6 wickets in 2 Tests.
So, it’s highly likely that Bumrah will replace Prasidh Krishna in the playing XI at Lord’s.
🏏 Summary:
- Jasprit Bumrah will play in the 3rd Test.
- Captain Shubman Gill confirmed this after the Edgbaston win.
- Akash Deep likely to retain his place after taking 10 wickets.
- Prasidh Krishna may be dropped due to poor form and high economy rate.
The 3rd Test at Lord’s promises to be exciting with Bumrah’s return and Team India in great form.
